Services

I advise clients on all aspects of labor and employment law and employee relations.  My expertise runs the gamut: collective bargaining negotiations, National Labor Relations Board matters, union avoidance and contract administration, wage-hour and EEO compliance, employee handbooks, harassment training, restrictive covenants, and the like.  I have a speciality in wage-hour law, including representation of more than 200 clients before numerous stateDepartments of Labor and the federal Department of Labor, as well as state and federal courts on such issues as classification of employees as exempt/non-exempt, working time issues and independent contractor controversies, including drafting/review of independent contractor agreements.  I have successfully defended clients in class actions.  I have conducted numerous internal audits of client compensationn/payroll practices to ascertain compliance with wage-hour law, with appropriate recommendations.

More generally, I provide counsel concerning day-to-day as well as big picture strategic issues.  I encourage avoidance of problems not only by trying to be anticipatory and free-thinking but also by scripting scenarios and conducting training.  I also litigate before state and federal agencies and courts across the country.  I try to be practical and business-minded.  Many lawyers know the law; few are skilled at applying it to the real world and talking with clients about it in real-life terms.
